Key West Snorkel Trip — Two Reefs, All Gear Included, No Experience Needed

Key West is one of the most celebrated destinations in the world for a reason — and just offshore, beneath the surface of those famous turquoise waters, lies a living coral reef system that most visitors never get to see up close. Captain Hook's Dive Key West is going to change that for you.

Choose the experience that's right for you: explore the reef at your own pace on our Standard Snorkel Trip, or upgrade to the Guided Snorkel Experience. Same boat. Same gear. Same two reef sites. The difference is what you see — and how much you take home with you.

Guided Snorkel Experience — $99/person (minimum 2 snorkelers)

Your certified guide is in the water with you — not watching from the boat, but right there beside you, leading the way through the reef, pointing out marine life, identifying coral formations, and showing you what most snorkelers swim directly over without ever noticing.

Your guide will show you:

  • Reef fish by name — angelfish, parrotfish, yellowtail, sergeant majors, and dozens more
  • Sea turtles and rays — where they live and how to approach safely
  • Living coral structures — how to read a reef and understand what's growing around you
  • The hidden stuff — camouflaged creatures and reef secrets most visitors never find

Also includes a pre-water orientation — fin technique, mask clearing, breathing rhythm, and how to move through the reef without disturbing it. Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, this preparation makes a real difference.

Perfect for first-timers, families with kids, underwater photographers, and anyone who has snorkeled before and felt like they missed something.

Standard Snorkel Trip — $69/person

Everything you need for a great day on the reef — explore freely at your own pace with full gear included and our experienced crew on board.

Two Spots. Four Hours on the Water.

Every snorkel trip visits two different locations, with one hour at each spot to explore at your own pace. Our captains select the sites each day based on real-time conditions — wind, visibility, and sea state — ensuring you're always in the best water available. Key West's inner reefs range from just 3 to 30 feet deep, making them comfortable for snorkelers of every experience level, including children and first-timers. Please note that conditions may occasionally keep us at one location, but our team works every angle to maximize your time on the reef.

Everything You Need Is Already on the Boat.

Your mask, snorkel, fins, and inflatable snorkel vest are all included — no rental fees, no gear to pack, nothing to figure out before you arrive. If you wear corrective lenses, a Prescription Rx Mask is available as an add-on during booking. Prefer to bring your own gear? We'll store it and make sure it's on board when you arrive.

We Handle the Logistics. You Handle the Fun.

Check in at Captain Hook's Dive Key West and our team will get you fitted and take care of everything from there. Free parking is available right at the shop — a rare and genuinely appreciated perk in Key West.

Bringing a Mixed Group?

If some of your group wants to snorkel and others are certified divers, everyone rides the same boat — the Emerald Sea, our Key West dive and snorkel vessel. No splitting up, no separate reservations. Divers explore below while snorkelers enjoy the reef from the surface, keeping families and groups together from start to finish.

Stay Warm, Stay Comfortable.

Florida Keys water is warm, but an hour in the ocean can surprise you. Full wetsuit and shorty wetsuit rentals are available as optional add-ons during booking — a smart choice for early morning trips or anyone who runs cold.

After the Snorkel — The Perry Hotel

End your morning or afternoon on the water the right way. As a Captain Hook's guest, you're welcome to enjoy the pool at The Perry Hotel following your trip — the perfect way to relax, decompress, and replay the highlights of your time on the reef before heading back out to explore everything Key West has to offer.
