About the Program

This unique professional diver development program combines training from three leaders in innovative scuba education — Avelo Labs, NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors), and Ocean Reef Group — delivered right here in the clear, warm waters of the Lower Florida Keys. Whether you’re already a seasoned dive instructor or seeking to level up your credentials, this program opens doors to advanced teaching opportunities using next-generation dive systems.  

In this intensive course, open-water scuba instructors of any recognized dive agency will:

•   Earn your Avelo Instructor rating — qualifying you to teach Avelo courses (including the Avelo Recreational Avelo Diver specialty and related programs) and represent the Avelo System at any authorized dive center.  

•   Earn your Ocean Reef Full Face Mask Instructor rating through a program empowered by NAUI that covers both theory and in-water mastery with Ocean Reef full face mask and underwater communication systems.  

This training enables you to confidently guide divers using state-of-the-art equipment — the Avelo System for buoyancy-centered diving and Ocean Reef Integrated Dive Masks (IDM) for enhanced underwater breathing comfort with integrated regulator technology.

NAUI + Ocean Reef Full Face Mask Instructor Certification

This specialty training is part of a newly launched partnership between NAUI Worldwide and Ocean Reef Group to bring instructors advanced expertise in:

•   Fitting, donning, and adjusting Ocean Reef Full Face Masks

•   Underwater breathing techniques unique to integrated masks

•   Emergency procedures, mask clearing, and regulator transitions

•   Underwater communication protocols and use of Ocean Reef’s voice systems

•   Dive planning and execution using full face mask technology  

Ocean Reef’s Full Face Masks offer a safer, more natural breathing experience and a wider field of view, with improved diver comfort and communication that benefits instructional scenarios, guided dives, and technical applications.

Who Should Attend

This program is ideal for:

•   Active open water scuba instructors certified by any agency

•   Dive professionals looking to add cutting-edge certifications to their repertoire

•   Instructors who wish to lead advanced specialty trainings and deliver modern diving experiences

Prerequisites:

All Courses:

• Must be an active and insured (where applicable) open-water scuba instructor

• eLearning completed (Avelo RAD, Avelo PRO and Ocean Reef Full Face Mask Courses all have an eLearning component)

Avelo Pro:

• 400-meter swim in less than 15 minutes

• 10-minute tread (last 2 minutes with hands out of the water)

• Must have a minimum of 10 Avelo dives.

• Have a current (within a year) Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire and Diver Medical Physician's Evaluation Form signed by a qualified medical professional even if there are not any "yes" answers

Avelo Instructor candidates must:

OW certifications count 1:1 (10 minimum)
DSD/Try or the equivalent count 4:1
